What A Celebration! Homecoming Brings Golden Flashes Together
The ֹ Golden Flashes family was marking milestones and making memories at Homecoming 2022, held Saturday, Oct. 1. ֹ alumni, students, parents, employees and community members donned their blue-and-gold gear and reunited for one of the university’s long-standing traditions.

Gov. DeWine Declares October Ohio Employee Ownership Month With Proclamation Recognizing OEOC at ֹ
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted recently issued a joint proclamation recognizing the impact that employee-owned companies have on Ohio’s economy as well as the work of the Ohio Employee Ownership Center (OEOC) based at ֹ, which requested the proclamation. The OEOC has served as a nonprofit outreach center providing support, resources and assistance to businesses since 1987.

Family’s New Book Raises Awareness for Birthmarks
EHHS alumnus Erica Maxwell and her teenage daughter, Jessica Alexander, visited the Child Development Center to read from their newly published book, “Beauty With a Birthmark.”

Second Annual Banned Books Read-In Highlights Freedom of Speech
It may surprise you to learn that “Captain Underpants,” “Frankenstein,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Hunger Games” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” are all popular books that have been banned, along with many others. In honor of Banned Books Week, the Second Annual Banned Books Read-In was held in Taylor Hall.

ֹ’s Hometown Named One of the Best by Ohio Magazine
Members of the ֹ community can take great pride in their university’s hometown. The city of Kent has been selected by Ohio Magazine as a 2022-2023 Best Hometown. The Best Hometown honor recognizes Kent as a great place to live, work and visit.

Flowers and Foliage Sprouting Wellness and Joy
Nearly 40 people from the ֹ community enjoyed a tour of the flowers and trees of Front Campus during part two of the “Walk & Talk: Flowers and Foliage” event, thanks to the Employee Wellness and Health Promotion program and the grounds crew.

Wick Weekly Poetry Workshops Create a Community of Creatives
Every Friday, the ֹ community can come together to create poetry and share a more vulnerable side of themselves at the Wick Poetry Center. The Wick Weekly poetry writing workshop brings students together to help develop them as poets and create a community of creatives.
